At work on the great picture is an admirable skit. Dr. Sun is seen with palette and brush busily engaged in his great work “Celestial Utopia”—for the central figure of which a lay figure marked “Socialism” has been called into use. The canvas hints at delightfully idyllic scenes, and the student of Revolutionary history in the days to come could not possibly have a more charming or wittier comment on one of its passing phases than is given in this cartoon.

大正時代の中学校の教科書に、名前のアレンジ方法が具体的に書かれていました。あまりに具体的なので、自分の名前を「図案化」出来なければいけなかった、と考えたくなるほど。「吉野」の文字がだんだんと過激に変形されていくプロセスがスリリング。

大正時代に発行されていた「中等教育平面幾何学新教科書」に載っていた文字です。当時の中学校では、このようなマス目に合わせ図案文字を練習したのでしょうか? いま見ても非常に美しい文字です。
